The outpouring of tributes here tells us all so powerfully what we already knew – Kev was a special human being. Sadly, I didn’t know him for very many years, but in the time I did, we became the best of friends. How could we not? His effortless good humour and quick wit. His kindness and thoughtfulness. That infectious laugh, which lit up his whole face and everyone else’s in the room. The chats – about football, cycling, socialism, Ireland, family, Bolton, Crumpsall, The Cleve, abbatoirs, the Army and so much more. Like everyone else, I only have wonderful memories to cherish. Our cycling/drinking trips to Spain were particular highlights. Staying up until dawn, drinking brandy, listening to Irish music and talking shite. And laughing. So much laughter. Kev, you touched our hearts and souls and we miss you terribly. But your memory and the legacy of a life so beautifully lived is there for eternity. Sending all our love to Anne, Ewan, Grace, Pat, Tony, Rob and Andrew.
